With International Women’s Day approaching, we decided to share some fun and interesting facts about women. Ready to be surprised?

#1- International Women’s Day is celebrated in over 100 countries and is an official holiday in 15 countries—including Russia, China, and Vietnam. In addition, Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Cuba, Georgia, Guinea-Bissau, Eritrea, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Madagascar, Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Nepal, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uganda, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and Zambia also officially recognize it.

#2- The highest recorded IQ in history is held by a woman; the spot belongs to columnist and author Marilyn vos Savant. She held the Guinness Book of World Records title for “Highest IQ” for several years in the late 1980s.

#3- Ada Lovelace, a renowned mathematician, and writer is considered to be the first computer programmer.

#4- Due to the high production of estrogen, girls’ brains generally mature earlier than those of boys. Though boys catch up to girls by their late teens, the brains of both genders don’t fully develop until the mid-twenties.

#5- Studies prove that women make better leaders than men. Research reveals that companies run by females are more successful than those run by males. Surprisingly, surveys find that even men agree with the fact that women make fairer, more compassionate, and more trustworthy executives.
